About Robert

Robert Hay-Smith was born in London England. As a child actor he appeared in numerous films. At age seven was chosen to play Tiny Tim in the NBC Fireside Theatre production of “A Christmas Carol “in New York. He studied Drama at Corona Academy and the City Literary Institute and Double Bass and Clarinet at the Royal Military School of Music. 

He has worked with many variety acts in theatres in England and Europe and has performed in Canada, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and the Greek Theatre LA with Lonnie Donegan (“Does your chewing gum loose its flavor….). Robert was singer and bass player with The New Vaudeville Band (No. 1 hit “Winchester Cathedral”).  He has written and read children’s stories for the BBC, created TV games shows in the UK and Europe and co-wrote and directed Pollen the Musical which premiered at the Buskirk Chumley Theatre, Bloomington IN. in 2004.

He has performed in Bloomington with The Cardinal Stage Company as Fagin in Oliver ,  Dr. Livesey in Treasure Island, Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady. He has recently been touring with his one man show Gold Rush – Tales of the Yukon and More. 

Robert is the owner and artistic director of the Harlequin Theatre in Columbus Indiana where he lives with his wife Evelynn and son Miles.
